“You and I” from Bare: A Pop Opera off-Broadway, featuring John Hill as Jason and Michael Arden as Peter.

bare: a pop opera, off-Broadway.

Gabe Violett is perfect. That is all.

Unpopular Opinions…

It makes me unreasonably pissed off when people dream cast Emma Hunton as Nadia in “Bare”. Um, have you ever MET Emma Hunton? She’s a tiny girl! No, she’s not a size negative 0 like Socha, but she’s about a hundred miles from plus sized. Come on, people, really.

As someone who has dreamcast Emma as Nadia, I agree completely with lexiloumarie’s reply as to my reasoning. I think most Nadias I’ve seen, ex. Natalie Joy Johnson off-Broadway, are attractive and not incredibly large girls. I’ve seen people mention Emma’s body before in contexts that I’m not sure are entirely reasonable (even fan comments aside, for example, this review, “Geeky-smart daughter (Emma Hunton) has her dad’s soft-looks, and his big bones which makes having a mom who could be a model doubly difficult for her self-image.”), and I don’t have trouble imagining that in the world we live in, a high school girl with Emma’s body could be made feel self-conscious about it. I definitely see girls of all sizes feeling like Nadia these days.

Also, I always cast Krysta Rodriguez as Ivy and she’s tiny also.

Michael Arden - “Role of a Lifetime” from bare: a pop opera

You should be well aware of my feelings about Michael Arden by now.

“See Me” from bare: a pop opera. Michael Arden is still not only my favorite Peter but one of my favorite performers period. His ability to convey emotion in his voice always blows me away, e.g. “Run Away With Me” or “River.” It’s almost like any time he sings a song all other renditions suddenly don’t compare for me anymore.
