Matt looks so grown up these days.

Matt Doyle, 2009:
Leading man role you’ve been dying to play:
Romeo! Anywhere.
Matt Doyle, 2011:
Role I was born to play…
Romeo.
Matt Doyle, 2012:
PC: And, after all, when would you next get the chance to play Juliet?
MD: Yeah - exactly! Exactly. I think that Juliet’s part is the best in the whole thing! It’s amazing. I was thrilled.
PC: All the best female roles in Shakespeare are for the under-40 set, it seems. Did you look at this as a chance to do one of the great female roles in the canon?
MD: Yes. Any professor that I studied with would have told me that that was the best role in the show - it’s always Juliet. She just has the most gorgeous text - and her conflict and her struggle throughout the piece has always excited me.
I like Matt Doyle. I like Emma Hunton. They like to sing songs together sometimes. I got together a bunch of those in a zip.

The sequel to last year’s Spring Awakening Holiday Compilation, a collection of winter-y songs featuring alumni from the show. It was a little tougher to put together this year but I hope you like it.

Just bothered to watch this video of Matt Doyle singing “A Change Is Gonna Come” even though it’s been going around Tumblr, since, you know, he sings this song constantly. This is possibly the best rendition I’ve heard him do, though. I remember the first time video came up of him singing it, it was one of the first times I’d ever heard him sing something that really showed off his voice and I was blown away. I still can’t believe how talented he is. Just some Matt Doyle appreciation.

The Spring Standards, one of my favorite bands, singing songs they didn’t write, sometimes helped by people I also like.

* Maybe don’t count as covers but just roll with me here.
Edit: By the way, one cover they did that’s not included is Seal’s Kiss From a Rose, because I had included it on a previous compilation. You can get it individually as a bonus track if you like, however.
