To blend in with the rest of the on-stage audience, they dressed in contemporary clothes that allowed them to conceal their handheld microphones. They wore the same thing every night, though their outfits were changed seasonally.

It’s about that time of year when radio stations are hauling out their holiday music and so on, so here’s a reminder that the past two years I have made compilations of holiday songs performed by alumni of the Broadway, West End, and two touring companies of Spring Awakening. (Whether there will be 2012 compilation is still up in the air. It’s getting tougher and tougher to find songs, as you can see by how tentatively relevant some of the 2011 songs are.)
