In which Rachelle and I give some thoughts on Raising Hope vs Glee

  • Arqueete Queetely says:
  • btw raising hope having that bully be transgendered i think was a perfect example of how raising hope can touch on sensitive things with respect [IMO, obviously I can't speak for how anyone else felt about the storyline, especially transgendered people] without making a big deal out of it or letting it bring the comedy to a halt. as opposed to glee who tries to be super progressive and bombard us with issues they're trying to support and manages to accidentally offend left and right.
  • Rachelle says:
  • omg ikr i was thinking abotu that
  • how if it had been glee then as soon as she was [revealed as] transgendered then that would be the end of it
  • but she was transgendered and she was still a person who could still beat people up and be a bully because she's just still a person
  • Arqueete Queetely says:
  • yes
  • Rachelle says:
  • and not [only] a transgendered person
  • Arqueete Queetely says:
  • it was hilarious but no part of why it was funny came from mocking her transgenderedness.
  • Rachelle says:
  • yes
  • i was a little nervous when it started because gender issues have been bothering me lately
  • but raising hope pulled through in the end i think
