I appreciate that Jon Foreman of Switchfoot has side projects that allow him to write whacky songs like this.

Switchfoot covers Pink Floyd’s “Money.”

Um.

It’s Anberlin and Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman covering “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House.

Yes.

Switchfoot performing “Souvenirs” off their latest album, Vice Verses.

I almost included this song on my The Fault In Our Stars mix but I figured it had enough Jon Foreman on it already… It could definitely be a Melchior/Wendla song as well, I think, maybe even more so.

I close my eyes and go back in time
I can see you smiling, you’re so alive
We were so young, we had no fear
We were so young, we had no idea
That life was just happening

Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman sings my favorite song off their new album (“Vice Verses”), live on a street corner because he does stuff like that. (Song actually starts around 1:40.)

Switchfoot giving a beautiful acoustic performance of “Dark Horses.”

Acoustic version of Switchfoot’s “Dark Horses”, a song Jon Foreman says he wrote about homeless youth in his hometown of San Diego.

Finished listening through Switchfoot’s new album, Vice Verses, on my bus ride home today. This is the song “Vice Verses.” Can we talk about my respect for Jon Foreman’s songwriting? He tackles such heavy subjects and big life questions in a way that feels personal and poetic.

Let the Pacific laugh
Be on my epitaph
With its rising and falling
And after all, it’s just water
And I am just soul
With a body of water and bone
Water and bone

BTW I own this now.
